With the snow coming down harder and the wind picking up, even the bison said enough is enough and settled down to wait out the snowfall with their backs to the wind.

I wanted to show the cold and the isolation that they face during moments like these so I used a slower shutter speed letting the snow streak across my frame.

When developing this shot I first converted it to black and white. I wasn’t getting the complete feeling in the image I was after though. So I color toned the black and white image, cooling my shadows and warming my highlights slightly.

That provided me with an image that says it all in regards to what bison face during a snowfall.
