"Pinyon Tree and Milky Way" - Zion National Park - Utah

I photographed this during my annual fall foliage photo workshop at Zion National Par in Utah.

I brought my students out to the popular pinyon tree in the east side of the park and placed a barely visible light off-camera to the left to shine on the tree and sandstone.

It took quite a few trips running up and down the the sandstone to get the correct exposure balance between the light on the rock & tree along with the Milky Way, but it was worth it :)
